Configuring Customer Account Sign-up

When customer sign-up is enabled, customers can sign up on the eGain secure login page and are then redirected to the secure messaging portal.

To configure Customer Account Sign-up:
  1. From the Partition and Departments dropdown menu, go to the partition space.
  2. In the Navigation menu, browse to Security > Customer Accounts > Settings.
  3. On the Properties page, set the following:
    • Customer signup mode: The following options are available to enable or disable customer sign-up on the secure messaging portal:
      • Public: Users can sign up directly via the eGain secure login page.
      • None: Users cannot sign up.
      • Invitation only: Send a sign-up invitation request to users.
      • Mixed: As a combination of Public and Invitation only, sign-up invitations can be sent to users and users can also sign up directly via the eGain secure login page.
    • Send sign-up link on account creation: This field is enabled only if the Customer signup mode field is set to Invitation only or MixedChoose one of the following options:
      • Yes: The sign-up link invitation is sent automatically on contact point creation.
      • No: The agent can send sign-up link invitation from the agent console.
    • Invitation expiry (minutes): Set the time for the invitation to expire. Default value is 1440 minutes (24 hours). The minimum value is 5, and maximum value that can be set is 4320 minutes (72 hours). This field is enabled only if the Customer signup mode field is set to Invitation only or Mixed.
    • Invitation based sign-up redirect URL: Provide the URL of the secure messaging portal the customer is redirected to after successful sign-up.
  4. Click the Save button.
