Reporting Gadget
About the Reporting Gadget
The Reporting Gadget provides the ability to embed a report within a dashboard in tabular format. The report parameters can be saved so that it runs automatically and displays the data when the dashboard is opened.
While it is possible to use the Charts Gadget to embed a grid within a dashboard, there are certain features not supported by the Chart Gadget. For more details, see When to Use Grid Charts.
The Reporting Gadget, provides an experience that is very similar to using a report via the Tools menu and supports most of the same features such as grouping, trend arrow columns, super-headers and pagination of larger datasets. The Reporting gadget has two views:

Report selection view: Enables users to choose the report to run. New instances of the Reporting gadget open in this view.

Report view: Runs the selected report and displays the results. Users can also choose the report parameters to use if necessary.
New instances of the Reporting gadget always open in the report selection view. If the reporting gadget is used in an app, when the app is loaded the gadget opens in the view that it was in when the app was saved.
The Report Builder gadget can be used to edit existing reports. It does not provide the option to create or edit parameter sets. It also does not provide the ability to edit the report, set thresholds or define schedules. These actions must be performed from the Tools menu.
Working with the Report Builder Gadget
To use the Report Builder Gadget within a dashboard:

Add the Report Builder gadget to your home page. It opens in a folder selection view. For more information about adding gadgets to your home page, see Building Dashboards.

The Folder field defaults to your Home Folder. This is where your report is created by default. To create the report in a different folder, click the field to open the drop-down menu, and select the folder in which the report should be created.

Click Create Report. Step 1 of Report Builder opens within the gadget.

Click the arrow buttons at the top of the page to navigate forward and back through the steps of Report Builder and select the desired options at each step. For more information on each step, see Building a New Report.

On step 6, enter the details for the report, including Name and Path and click Save to save the report. At any time, you can click Cancel to discard the report without saving and return the gadget to the folder selection view.
