About Portals

Portals allow you to publish selected portions of the knowledge base as portals on your intranet, extranet, or website. A portal is created and customized with the help of topics, a template, and various properties. It has two editions: an agent portal and a customer portal.

Elements of the Portal Home Page

To give you a feel of what the portal looks like, here is a wireframe of a typical home page.

  1. The header with the logo.

  2. Browse Topics: A hierarchical tree of knowledge base topics.

  3. The header with the portal search.

  4. Portal banner with the portal search.

  5. Announcements: An optional section to display announcements.

  6. What's Trending: A list of the most popular articles, based on recent use.

  7. Topics: The various topics of the portal are displayed in separate squares. Each topic holds direct links to its articles and can be further expanded.

  8. More Options: Contains links to various resources on the portal, including Bookmarks, Guided Help, Suggested Articles, and Recently Added Articles

  9. Escalation Section: Add a "Contact Us" link to your portal to give users access to agents.

  10. The footer.
