Validating Masking Patterns
Validating Individual Patterns
After you create a pattern, test it by using the validation option available for each pattern.
To validate a pattern:

From the Partition and Departments dropdown menu, go to the partition space.

In the Navigation menu, browse to Security > Data Masking > Patterns.

On the List page, select the pattern you want to test.

On the Properties page, click the Validate button.

In the Validate Pattern window, do the following:

In the Sample Data provide the text you want to use for testing the pattern and click the Show button.

In the Masked Data section, the JavaScript Regular Expression and Java Regular Expression applied to the sample data are displayed. All the settings configured in the Masking Pattern tab will be applied to the sample data.

After you are done testing, you can close the window.

Validating Masking Patterns Applied to Channels in a Department
In addition to validating individual patterns, you can validate the patterns selected for a channel and make sure that they work properly as a group and that the order of the selected patterns is correct.
To validate patterns applied to channels at the department level:

From the Partition and Departments dropdown menu, select a department.

In the Navigation menu, browse to Apps > Chat & Messaging or Email > Data Masking.

On the Properties page, click the Validate button.

In the Validate Pattern window, do the following:

In the Sample Data provide the text you want to use for testing the pattern and click the Show button.

In the Masked Data section, the JavaScript Regular Expression and Java Regular Expression applied to the sample data are displayed. All the settings configured in the Masking Pattern tab will be applied to the sample data.

After you are done testing, you can close the window.
