About Patterns
Patterns are definitions of data masking rules that are applied to the content of emails and chat messages to hide sensitive data. Patterns are defined using JavaScript and Java regular expressions. In the pattern definition, administrators also define the character to use for replacing the matching data (for example, *, ^, #). The Luhn algorithm can be enabled for masking credit card numbers. This algorithm distinguishes valid credit card numbers from a random sequence of numbers.
A partition administrator with the Manage Application Security action can create, delete, edit, copy, import, and export patterns.
