About Releases

You can release case bases for testing or formal use. Release of a case base is a process in which a read-only copy of the case base is created. The end users can be exposed to the released copy of the case base and they can continue searching, uninterrupted by any changes or maintenance being performed on the original author version. This gives the authors the flexibility to expose their case base to the end user, while in parallel they can keep changing or updating the case base with the changing needs. After making changes to the case base, the released case base can be updated very easily.

There are three types of releases that can be created for a case base.

  • Draft: Draft is the first release created and forms the basis for the QA and Live releases. The draft release cannot be searched.

  • QA: Authors can use the QA release to test their changes before updating the live release.

  • Live: The live release is the version of the case base that is presented to end users though the portal. When changes have been fully tested and approved, a live release can easily be created.
